The Unclassical Musician

Jan 8, 2021

If you are a musician with a gig-based income, you will likely qualify for some covid relief money from the federal government soon!

Congress passed “The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021” on December 20. This act provides additional funds to the Paycheck Protection Program— the pandemic relief program administered by the US Small Business Administration (SBA).

We are still waiting on more details for the new round of aid. In the mean time, here are some things you can do to get yourself in good shape to apply for a forgiveable loan.

  1. Follow the news around PPP loans and covid relief
  2. Start preparing your 2020 taxes. You will need info from both 2019 and 2020 in order to show loss of income due to the pandemic.
  3. Familiarize yourself with both Lendio and Bluevine websites so you are prepared to apply when the time comes.
